A History of the Site of St Wilfrid's

The site is located in the Old Fold area of Gateshead, close to Gateshead International Stadium. In the 1850s, the site was occupied by the Tyne Main Colliery. North of this was the Tyne Main Wagon Way. The Pit is on land known as Gateshead Park, with Park House and its ornamental gardens to the north west.
