St Wilfrid's in the 1960s and 1970s

The main event that pupils learnt about during this period was the visit of the queen to Gateshead in Jubilee Year, 1977.

The Queen in Gateshead

Rebecca McDonald and Maria Crowper wrote that "In 1977 there was a party on all the streets. It was to celebrate the Queens Jubilee. All the people had to wear red, white and blue. The girls had to wear red white and blue ribbons. There were people dancing and people playing games, people having some food. People were very happy. It was a great day."
