Story of Seaham

Local History Publications

The Story of Seaham group is an association founded in 1994 to promote and encourage the study and presentation of all aspects of the story of Seaham.

Initially it concentrated on rescuing artefacts from the local pits as the pit buildings were being demolished in the mid 1990's. It now serves as a useful depository for memorabilia of all kinds - domestic, maritime, literary and industrial - and displays material at the many local history shows and community events in County Durham, including the Durham Miners Gala.
